"HOW TO TEACH KIDS TO READ IN ONLY 6 STEPS"

How to teach my child to read
While it may sound impossible, you actually CAN teach kids to read in 6 STEPS, especially if you use a phonics-based approach. The beauty of phonics is that it teaches children the 'sounding out rules' of the English language. Once a child has a basic grasp of sounding out simple words, she will easily advance into becoming an independent reader. And the 'sounding out' stages comes fairly quickly once you begin your lessons.

The other neat thing about phonics is that's it's fairly easy to teach. Lessons are presented sequentially, and each builds on the last. There's no guessing about where your child is in the process, so each time you sit down, you add a new building block to his knowledge.
Take a look below to find out how Teach Your Child to Read™ can teach kids to read in only 6 STEPS. Once it all makes sense to you, give our free trial a try. Teach Your Child to Read™ contains all the tools you need to teach kids to read—especially your own.

How to Teach Kids to Read in Only 6 Steps

If you have 5 minutes a day—and access to a laptop or tablet—you can easily teach kids to read. We have designed our program to keep it simple for you to follow and easy for your child to learn.
STEP 1
STEP 1 starts with the basics—teaching your child the sound of each letter. Because phonics takes a sound-based approach to teaching reading, the name of each letter is not necessary for your child to know. In fact, if at all possible, avoid teaching him the names of the letters at all. And if you aren't quite sure how to pronounce the sounds of the letters, don't worry. The audio portion of the program does that for you.

STEP 2
Now that your child can pronounce the sound or each letter, she is ready to read. In STEP 2, you will add the sounds together to make words. When your child can sound out a simple word like c-a-t or d-o-g, she is well on her way to reading.
STEP 3
STEP 3 is almost a repeat of STEP 1, except here we introduce blended sounds, such as 'sh,' 'th,' and 'ch.' No need to point out the separate letters in each blend. If you simply introduce the two letters together, your child will read them as a single sound and not mistakenly go back to the individual pronunciation of each letter.
STEP 4
You will be amazed how many words your child will be able to sound out after learning the blended sounds in STEP 3. There are many simple books (e.g. Dr. Seuss and The Bob Books) that he will comfortably be able to read—and enjoy!
STEP 5
Introducing the concept of the silent vowel can be tricky. Teach Your Child to Read™ uses the 'sleeping baby' technique, which makes it fun for your child to learn. And if YOU aren't quite sure how the silent vowel concept works, that's okay. It's all laid out for you, step-by-step, in the program.
STEP 6
STEP 6 is the most exciting of all—your child reads the ten eStorybooks in the program to you! (Over and over, as it turns out. Children love to read to their parents.)
